Had I not seen the label, I would have identified this as a $40-$50 Pomerol due to its rich, complex Merlot fruit backed up by a firm tannic structure. The bouquet opens with fragrant aromas of violets, red raspberry, blackcurrant, and subtle oak nuances. Showing Pomerol-like levels of polish and breed on the palate, generous flavors of blackberry, cassis, and subtle balsamic remain balanced as they sail over the palate to the long, refined finish. While very enjoyable now (decant 30 min. in advance), this wine, like a good Pomerol, is just now showing its stuff and will evolve gracefully over the next 5 to 7 years, if not longer.
– Ben Giliberti, CW Director of Wine Education
Fresh structures of red fruit, a well-dosed wood aging, full of fruit, power and freshness, all in balance with a great finesse of tannins. An excellent Canon-Fronsac.Great example of a medium bodied Bordeaux. Well balanced with good fruit and acidity.
