2004 Calvet-Thunevin - Maury (750ml)
2004 Calvet-Thunevin - Maury (750ml)
Varietal: Red Blend | Location: France - Languedoc-Roussillon - Maury

Seduced by the quality of the terroirs from this southerly region of France, renowned for luscious, naturally sweet red wines, Bordeaux winemaker Jean-Luc Thunevin decided to team up with local Maury winegrower Jean-Roger Calvet in 2000 to produce this unique dessert wine. Made from 100% Black Grenache grapes grown on slatey, limestone soil, this delectable wine is soft, ripe and delicately sweet. It's a perfect way to end a meal, sipped by itself or matched with fine cheeses from our La Cheeserie.

2007 Inniskillin - Cabernet Franc Ice Wine Niagara Peninsula (375ml)
2007 Inniskillin - Cabernet Franc Ice Wine Niagara Peninsula (375ml)
Varietal: Cabernet Franc | Location: Canada - Niagara Peninsula

The red berry characteristics of the vinifera grape Cabernet Franc translate as an Icewine into strawberry like aromas and flavours. This Icewine is completely different from the white Icewines.   The colour comes from pressing only as there is no skin contact during fermentation.  The earlier it is harvested, the darker the colour and the deeper the flavours.

0 Quady - Starboard Batch 88 Madera (750)
NV Quady - Starboard Batch 88 Madera (750ml)
Varietal: Red Blend | Location: United States - California - Madera

Why do we call our "port" Starboard?
Because it is not port. Genuine port comes from a region in Portugal, the Douro River Valley. Starboard - the nautical term for right (as opposed to port - left) is unique to our place.

How is Starboard different?
We use the same grape varieties and similar methods as in the Douro, but our climate is warmer and the soils different. Instead of 140 proof fortifying brandy, we use a neutral grape spirit, 190 proof, for fortifying. We use 60 gallon barrels instead of 140 gallon pipes used in Portugal. Starboard matures earlier and has a riper more voluptuous flavor.

Starboard Batch 88 - The grapes in Batch 88 are primarily Tinta Roriz from the Madera area. The vineyard is managed to give loose bunches and a small crop. The blend is smooth and soft with a chocolate raisin character. Several different vintages are used in the blend which has an average age of about 5 years. In the port business this type of blend is called "Vintage Character."
