(Don't feel too bad - Ch'teau Margaux can't either.) But let's not take this comparison too far. Jordan's calling card has always been its unique melding of the best of both of both worlds, the lush, delectable fruit of California, allied to a dose of Bordeaux savoir-faire. Made very much in the classic, uncannily food compatible Jordan style, the mouthfeel of the 2007 is exceptionally smooth, seamless, and elegant, with a notable vanilla quality from the use of 70% French oak. I suspect its real edge over the 2006 is simply the vintage - it exudes the beautiful dense blackberry and dark fruit flavors that are the hallmarks of 2007, one of the finest vintages in recent memory. Although approachable now with one hour of decanting, the 2007 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon will reward cellaring at least through 2020. |
