2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Wine

Alexander Valley Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the first wines we produced in 1975 and three and a half decades later it is still our flagship wine. From the beginning our Cabernet stood apart from other California cabs because it was an elegant old world style wine.

The product of years of patient refinement, our Cabernet Sauvignon blends Merlot and Syrah with traces of complementary varietals to expand its flavor and texture.

Comprised of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from grapes grown on our estate hillside vineyards (30%) in conjunction with grapes from other mature, high-quality, low-yielding Napa Valley Cabernet vineyards located on the valley floor. We've found the resulting blend to produce a wine that displays a broad spectrum of aromas, flavors, and textures that Cabernet can show in the Napa Valley.

A big, mouth filling wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, shows the personality of the vintage in its intense fruit. There is plenty of underlying structure in this deep, resonant Cabernet Sauvignon. Mint, flowers and sweet red berries are some of the nuances that are woven into the finish. This is far from an easygoing Napa Cabernet. Although delicious today, it should drink well for a number of years. Another year or so in bottle should help the elements come together even more fully. The 2010 is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

Deep purple in color with a ruby red hue, this exceptionally well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits ripe blackberry, cassis and plum fl avors, colored with a touch of mocha and coffee. The sweet, fruity entry is enhanced with a juicy mouthfeel, notes of savory herbs and velvety tannins, followed by a long, smooth finish.

Showcasing a dark ruby color, this wine offers intense fruit aromas of berry, delicate cocoa, fresh herbs and light toast followed on the palate by harmonious flavors of ripe black plums and blackberry fruit. Medium-bodied, this wine has a persistent and complex finish and a structure that allows it to be enjoyed now or left to age for up to a decade.

This delicious, crowd pleasing Cabernet – consistently named a Wine Enthusiast “Best Buy� – delivers serious bang for the buck! It’s packed with lip smacking flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum, with subtle hints of dark chocolate and spice.

Matured for 12 months in oak, this wine serves up a fresh bouquet of currant, cut cedar and licorice, followed on the palate by spicy, lifted flavors of dark berry, blackcurrant, plum, and a touch of dark chocolate, with impressive tannic grip on the finish. Though quite drinkable now, this clearly has the structure to reward bottle aging.

The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc caresses the palate with melon, juicy peaches and flowers along with plenty of green, grassy varietal notes. This soft Sauvignon is best enjoyed over the next year or two. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013.
