Varietal: Bordeaux Blend | Location: France - Sauternes
This lively Sauternes has good acidity which gives it great freshness and balance. At 108 grams per liter of sugar (about 10% less the "average" Sauternes) it will make a versatile food wine. -- CW Wine Staff (April 2011)

We really enjoyed this wine during our group tasting with Bill Blatch, even before he took us to Chateau Coutet later that day! Our meeting with Aline Baly, niece of owner Philippe Baly, only reconfirmed our wonderful feelings for this wine. Rich and lush with tropical fruit flavors galore, this is fantastic stuff!

Wow! We've been carrying this super cuvee from Denis Dubourdieu's Doisy Daene property for many years and this is definitely one of the best. Denis actually told us at our tasting that he feels it is indeed his best ever. Super sweet and rich, but with enough acidity to offer balance and freshness. Lots of candied tropical fruit flavors. An amazing effort that seems to linger in your mouth for minutes.

The Doisy-Vedrines has a refined bouquet of lemon curd, dried honey and just a touch of quince, perhaps not quite as rich as recent vintages, but very well-defined. The palate is well-balanced, with a touch of lime cordial and passion fruit on the entry, and zesty acidity and impressive precision towards the taut, slightly spicy rich finish. Returning after an hour, this sample has enhanced clarity and volume, and subsequent encounters confirm a very promising Doisy-Vedrines.The Doisy-Vedrines has a refined bouquet of lemon curd, dried honey and just a touch of quince, perhaps not quite as rich as recent vintages, but very well-defined. This sweet wine from the lovely region of Loupiac (just across the river from Barsac and Sauternes) is owned and made by our friend Catherine d'Allhuin and her husband Thibault. They pour their heart and soul into their wines, and nicer people you will not meet. Their 2010 has beautiful balance and lovely notes of citrus and orange peel. A very versatile sweet wine that will work as an aperitif, or pair well with cheeses, fish and of course, dessert. Given the quality in the bottle, this is a drop dead bargain! -- CW Wine Staff (April 2011)
