2009 California Wine between $25 and $50

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Rutherford Cabernet spent 14 months in a combination 50% French oak, 30% American oak, and 30% Hungarian oak, 40% new barrels and 60% used. Although drinking beautifully right now, this wine has the potential to age gracefully for several years.

In the glass, this wine has a classic Chardonnay hue of pale golden straw. The bouquet draws you in with delicate nuances of wet stones, lichee, white peach, orange blossoms, and a slight hint of toasted almonds. The palate is soft and fleshy and loaded with bright citrus tones of sweet mandarin and Meyer lemon, white nectarine and rich tropical notes of guava, pineapple, and lichee – all complemented by subtle sweet oak. There is a delicate smoothness to this Chardonnay and fantastic weight throughout. This is the wine you’ll want to bring to the next big dinner party or business lunch– get ready to accept the kudos.

A lovely Merlot, this is pure, vibrant and elegant. It has classic cherry, red-currant and cedar flavors, and while there's a sweetness at the core, the finish is thoroughly dry. Wonderful to drink now with steak or lamb.

Soft and smooth in tannins, this Cabernet is made in a drier, earthier style than many others. It displays classic blackberry and cedar flavors, and will benefit from a brief decant.

Crafted from grapes grown without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, our Chardonnay displays the classic style that Miljenko “Mike” Grgich established when we began in 1977. The wine’s crisp, yet rich, flavors of apple, honeydew melon and fig with a hint of baked brioche are perfect for fresh seafood, roasted chicken and pork, or creamy cheeses.

Following three critically acclaimed vintages of HALL Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, we are delighted to release the 2009 Hall Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage is brimming with aromas of cassis and blackberry pie and expresses aromas of black fruit, white chocolate and toasted almonds. Round and soft on the palate, opulent flavors of dark bing cherry, jam, and caramel lead to a velvety finish. Expect this wine to age gracefully over the next 10+ years.

The 2009 Chardonnay Unfiltered flows from the glass with melon, apricots, acacia and subtle French oak. It is a pretty, mid-weight, understated wine to drink now and over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, this bubbly shows Schramsberg's ease of producing rich, clean and elegant sparkling wines. It's delicious now in vanilla, yeast, lime and Asian pear flavors, with some sweetness from the dosage, but try giving it 5?6 years in the cellar.
