ere’s the kind of simple Rosso di Montalcino that would pair perfectly with with risotto alla Milanese (with delicate meat flavoring and saffron) or roast pork. It’s a fresh, zesty wine, with bright berry nuances and a clean, sharp mouthfeel.
The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino flows across the palate with layers of lush, expressive fruit. The wine’s minerality comes through on the mid-palate and finish. I very much like the combination of rich fruit and freshness in this lush, textured Rosso. Banfi aged the Rosso in a combination of French oak barrels and casks. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
Ruby red in color. The aromas are fruity with notes of plum, blackberry, violet and a delicate hint of licorice. On the palate, the important structure is immediately perceived; it is round and vigorous, with a pleasant finish and an amazing persistence.
