The 2009 Chianti Classico shows excellent weight and depth to match its expressive dark red fruit. This is an especially open vintage for the Chianti Classico. The 2009 is probably not destined for a super long life, but will drink beautifully for at least a handful of years. Hints of earthiness and tar add to an impression of gravitas in this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. -- Antonio Galloni
There's an attractive, earthy bent to this cherry- and wild herb-flavored red. Broad and rangy, with firm, mouthcoating tannins and a lingering tobacco aftertaste. Best from 2014 through 2022.
