The 2009 Alex, composed of 70% Syrah and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in wood, displays some toasty vanilla, with hints of graphite and spice box. There are some tannins to shed, and the wine is dense, concentrated and well-made. This wine is named after the son of the long-time American importer, and is no doubt meant to have some ability to age.
