Description:
"This just has to go down as one of the great successes of the vintage. Just to check, I tasted it blind against the Second Growths and its superiority shone out; then against other Firsts, and its combination of lush concentration and an elegant 'lift' put it right there at the top.
At a quite moderate 136 g/l of residual, and an alcohol and acidity that are almost identical to the '07, this is the kind of 'nervous' balance that many larger estates would maybe have preferred to achieve this year. In that, it is one of the few wines to resemble the '01, and is maybe even superior."

"The nose is surprisingly taciturn at the moment, taking time to unfurl and reluctantly offering some light honeyed, white flower aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, very well defined, quite minerally with dried apricot, honey, nectarine and a touch of lemon curd. It would benefit from more weight and intensity towards the finish, but it has good length and finesse, gaining weight all the time with aeration."
