The California Winetasters Society (CWS), run by DC wine legend Marvin Stirman, scours the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma looking for overproduction from top American wineries. When it finds the right wine it buys up the entire lot and bottles it under its own distinctive label. The grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir come primarily from Pinot Noir specialist Kent Rasmussen's home vineyard in Carneros, Napa. Pretty aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry evolve and unfold into subtle notes of wild violets and warm toast. On the palate, graceful acidity frames the delicate red fruit flavors, which are supported by a hint of varietal earthiness on the finish.
