2007 Château Suduiraut - Sauternes (375ml)

Powered by dry botrytis, this is a wine with immense potential. It has weight, complexity and richness, all under the cloak of botrytis. To leaven the power, there is acidity, but this is certainly for aging.

The nose takes time to coalesce in the glass, very pure with honey, white peach, Turkish Delight honeysuckle, and beeswax. The palate is beautifully balanced, still with some oak to be subsumed, but has great depth and precision. This is a confident, almost ambitious Suduiraut with great power and intensity towards the botrytis-rich, viscous finish that is endowed with great persistency. Lovely. Drink now-2030.

Dried lemon and floral aromas lead to loads of botrytis spice and bitter lemon peel in this young, full-bodied sweetie, with hints of lively lime and honey. Medium sweet. Very intense. Best after 2014.

The wines of Chateau Suduiraut are elegant, sweet and full-bodied with a remarkable life-expectancy. They are a beautiful gold color with amber tints when aged. They have harmony, power, and finesse; it is often said that a great Suduiraut is the essence of Sauternes.
