One of the founding members of the prestigious Amarone Families association who focus on safeguarding the unique winemaking traditions of Valpolicella, Allegrini sets the standard for a new generation of vintners. This opens with sweet tones of Indian spice, ripe fruit and tobacco. The mouthfeel is exceedingly rich, long lasting and intense.
The perfect bookend to the fully mature 2002 Château Canon, the 2008 is a great wine in the making. Although 3 to 4 years away from full maturity, its impeccable balance makes it highly approachable now. This is a wine of enormous freshness, vibrancy, and class, a symphony composed in notes of raspberry, strawberries, cassis, and gentle notes of new oak. An exceptional value in a great wine.--Ben Giliberti, CW (June 2012)
"This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc displays loads of power, structure and impressive density. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple, and the wine offers up notes of black fruits, charcoal and forest floor. It is full-bodied and moderately tannic, but the low acidity and alcohol levels give it a certain accessibility. This is a sleeper of the vintage in Pomerol and possibly the best wine I have tasted from this estate. Give it several years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-15 years."91+ points — Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Redolent of blackberry and dark fruits, this also features a fascinating mix of mocha, graphite and tobacco flavors. Very juicy as well, which figures into the finish of fine-grained tannins and spice. An exuberant and refined Vintage Port. Best from 2020 through 2050. 5,000 cases made. ?KM

Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles! It's hard not to be in a good mood when you see a bottle of bubbly being poured, so it's somewhat understandable that most sparkling wine is only drunk to celebrate a milestone or happy occasion. That's a shame, though, because the reality is that sparkling wines are great all year round, and they're very food friendly. Try these four sparkling wines, all from different regions, and we think you'll agree.Comes in an attractive, handy tote bag with one bottle each of the following wines:Henri Abele Brut NV (Champagne, France)Albrecht Cremant d'Alsace Brut Rose NV (Alsace, France)Valdo Prosecco NV (Veneto, Italy)Paul Cheneau Brut Cava NV (Catalunya, Spain)

The red berry characteristics of the vinifera grape Cabernet Franc translate as an Icewine into strawberry like aromas and flavours. This Icewine is completely different from the white Icewines. The colour comes from pressing only as there is no skin contact during fermentation. The earlier it is harvested, the darker the colour and the deeper the flavours.
