 | Don't think of this as just any Valpolicella. As the baby brother to Allegrini's legendary Amarone Della Valpolicella, this robust blend of 65% Corvina, 30% Rondinella and 5% Molinara surges from the glass with highly quaffable raspberry and dark cherry fruit, highlighted by notes of kirsch, allspice and herbs. The firm, yet fruity finish makes it a perfect match with charcoal grilled steaks and poultry.
The Allegrini winery has long been a reference-point producer for Amarone Della Valpolicella, which some consider to be Italy's greatest red wine. All of Allegrini's wines are produced from estate grown fruit sourced from its 70 hectares of vineyards, all of which are within the Valpolicella Classico DOC. Located in Fumane di Valpolicella, the Allegrini estate has roots in Verona dating back to the 16th century, if not earlier. The property’s modern reputation was established in the mid-20th century by Giovanni Allegrini, who purchased top vineyards, and who introduced many of the estate’s innovative wines. The winery is run today by his children Franco and Marilisa. |
