Made from grapes grown on the Lieserer Niederberg Helden and Bernkastel - Kueser Kardinalsberg vineyards, this bone dry Riesling offers super-fresh flavors of ripe Granny-Smith apples, lime, and notes of red grapefruit, overlaid by mineral-slate characteristics typical of the Mosel. It compares favorably with other so-called "trocken" (dry) Rieslings that are considerably more expensive. The Classic category represents a dramatic change in the thinking of German winemakers. By law, the wines must be made in a bone dry, international style, which is not the usual perception of German wines. To fend off gobbledygook, no additional designation regarding vineyard or sweetness/ripeness profile is permitted on the label. |
