SCOTCH SOLUTION

Shortly before he met his Waterloo, Napoleon decided to hit the English where it really hurts – by cutting off their supply of alcohol. In addition to blockading all shipments of wine across the Channel, the Little Emperor also halted the supply of Cognac, their favorite brandy. In desperation (and undoubtedly quite thirsty),  the English turned for help to their Scottish cohorts, who concocted a vaguely Cognac-like spirit from barley malt as a substitute for their favorite digestif. Thus, was born the greatest and most complex of all whiskeys, known today as Scotch Whisky.
Scotch has come a long way since then, including the rise of the finest and most distinctive Scotch of all, Single Malt Scotch. These premier representatives of the distiller's art are appreciated by all who love a great spirit, and also by those who enjoy the complexity of a great wine. Unlike blended Scotch, which can be distilled at more than one distillery from a combination of malted barley and other cereals, Single Malt Scotch may only come from a single distillery, and must be made entirely from malted barley, the finest basic ingredient. Every Single Malt is a journey of exploration, reflecting the unique flavors of the local artesian well water, the peat used to fire the kiln, the local barley and countless other factors, which makes each totally unique.
