2009 Indaba
Chenin Blanc
Western Cape, South Africa

Created as a celebration of the democratization process in South Africa, “Indaba” is the Zulu word for “meeting of the minds.” Crafted by the respected Cape Winemaker Bruwer Raats, this highly quaffable crowd-pleaser is packed with luscious tropical, citrus, and white stone fruit, accented with a touch of honey–almond on the crisp, dry finish. It strikes a perfect balance between mouthwatering fruit and lively acidity, which accents Chenin Blanc’s natural citrus and mineral character

2009 Tilia
Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina

Made by Bodega Catena winemaker Alejandro Viggiani at the Catena-owned Bodegas Esmeralda winery in Mendoza, the 2009 Tilia Malbec comes from sustainably farmed vineyards in both the traditional Eastern region of Mendoza and the dynamic Southern region.  Dark purple in color with ruby red tones, this lush, generous Malbec offers up pure, ripe black cherry and spice aromas and flavors, layered with notes of vanilla oak and espresso bean. An exceptional value.

Indaba's Meeting of the Minds

Grapes for this crisp, easy-drinking white came from two distinct soil types found on the Western Cape region. Table Mountain Sandstone brings out luscious flavors of honeyed apple, melon and tropical fruit, while Decomposed Granite accentuates crisp, fresh, mineral character. The grapes are picked in the cool early morning hours. After crushing, the juice is left in contact with the skins for 2-3 hours and is then fermented in stainless steel. The wine is aged in tank for six months sur lie to enhance richness on the palate.

Indaba’s winemaking is overseen by Bruwer Raats, the respected winemaker of the Stellenbosch-based Raats Family Wines, who has been a long-term consultant for Indaba. All wines are bottled under user-friendly screwcap closures in environmentally friendly packaging. The Indaba range also includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz selected from emerging regions of the Cape, such as Robertson, Wellington, and Breede River Valley. A portion of the proceeds from the Indaba wines supports a scholarship for formerly disenfranchised South Africans who are interested in wine-related careers.

Tilia

Dedicated to responsible use of the enviroment

The Tilia winemaking team is dedicated to responsible use of the environment. Water conservation and reuse, minimal use of pesticides and organic fertilization exemplify the team’s dedication. Furthermore, the entire Tilia viticultural team takes its knowledge of sustainable farming into the field to share and implement with their grower partners.

The fruit for Tilia Malbec is sourced from vineyards in the established Eastern region of Mendoza and the developing Southern region. Eastern Mendoza enjoys warm, sunny days and cool desert nights, producing grapes that have very ripe, rich fruit flavors and excellent mid-palate depth and concentration. The Southern region has bright sunshine and cooler temperatures. The fruit from this area contributes clean acid balance and soft, supple tannins.
